The Trimble SPS985 GNSS Smart Antenna allows contractors to conduct their own high accuracy site measurements tasks, eliminating the need to hire a contract surveyor. Great for small and large job sites, the SPS985 can be used as a GNSS rover system or as a Wi-Fi-enabled based station for other GNSS operations, such as machine control. This Smart Antenna makes it easier and faster to get going and is flexible in its operation techniques as it can easily move from its carrying case to a range pole, tripod, t-bar or vehicle with just a single click.

Ultra-rugged, the SPS985 is the smallest and toughest GNSS receiver ever built by Trimble. It is built for high-vibration use on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), quad bike or supervisor truck thanks to enhanced internal shock isolation. Such features as integrated Wi-Fi and wideband radio communications, quick release connector and smart phone configuration make the SPS985 user-friendly and easy-to-use as a pole-mounted rover or base station.

As a base station, the SPS985 GNSS Smart Antenna’s easy to use design features automatically established a radio or Wi-Fi connection and can transmit RTK corrections to another rover or machine control system. This allows the construction crew to spend more time working and less time setting up and maintaining equipment.

When used with a Connected Controlled such as Trimble TSC3 or Trimble Tablet, the SPS985 allows job crews to connect to a mobile hotspot in the site trailer or supervisor’s truck. They can then receive GNSS corrections via Virtual Reference Station (VRS) or Trimble Internet Base Station (IBSS). These connectivity features save administrative time and increase productivity. Users can also save a considerable amount of time by eliminating the need to leave the job site by wirelessly synchronizing progress data and as-built information to the job supervisor or head office as well as receive updated design information back.

The SPS985 was built using the advanced Trimble Maxwell 6 chip and Trimble 360 technology and can utilize more GNSS constellations, satellites and signals than traditional GPS. This results in the SPS985 delivering greater accuracy in more challenging conditions, including under tree canopy and urban areas, and increases uptime and productivity.
